Hi, I’m Lynda Sandoval! I’ve been in Fredonia since June 2013, and I’m looking forward to bringing my teaching voice (and the voices of all my awesome YU teachers!) to WNY. I came to yoga via a circuitous path. Prior to yoga, the only sport I ever connected with was powerlifting, and I competed in it quite successfully for several years, leaving the sport ranked 12th nationally in my weight class. I also left with a LOT of strength, zero flexibility, and stiff joints, but aside from that, what I loved about powerlifting was that feeling of competing ONLY with yourself, not with other people. Yoga shares that introspective quality with none of the competitiveness. I spent a lot of years resisting my sister’s urgings to do yoga, but once I FINALLY tried it, I never looked back. I realized everything my sister had told me was true: you don’t need to be flexible to do yoga, or coordinated, and when you are the busiest and most stressed? That’s the perfect time to practice. Once I realized how amazing and welcoming and healing a regular yoga practice was, I knew I wanted to share the magic with others, so off I went to yoga teacher training.

Karen discovered yoga and vegetarianism in 2005 when she began taking yoga classes to feel better mentally and physically. She has completed numerous teacher trainings. She completed her first teacher training in 2007 Hot Power Flow with Baron Baptiste.
In 2008 she fell in love with Jivamukti Yoga philosophy and practice which led her to getting her Jivamukti 300 and 800 hour Jivamukti teacher certifications. Jivamukti is a Sanskrit word. Jiva means “your soul” mukti means “liberated in this lifetime.” Jivamukti Yoga is one of the nine internationally recognized styles of Hatha Yoga.
Karen had the honor to teach at Jivamukti’s flagship studio in Union Square NYC. She also taught at Jivamukti’s New York Upper East Side Studio and Jivamukti’s NJ studio as well as other select studios in NJ which led her to train with some of the most famous teachers in the world.
Some of her other trainings are:
**Prenatal training was with Janice Clarfield of Urban Yoga.
**Ayurveda & Yoga Training at Integral Yoga Academy at Satchidananda Ashram in Yogaville
**Ayurveda training with Divya Alter co-founder of Divya’s Kitchen in NYC and Author of What to Eat for How You Feel: The New Ayurvedic Kitchen. Karen had the honor of being part of the photo shoot for the book. Preparing some of the food that is photographed in the book. Divya and Karen travelled to LA together to train with World famous Ayurvedic doctor, Rk Mishra. Becoming a Shaka Vansiya Ayurveda Health expert pranavidusi. Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of BALANCE in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment and yogic breathing.
**Spiritual training with Joshua M. Greene who has produced films for PBS and Disney, appointed director
of strategic planning for the United Nations Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders. Retired Hofstra and Fordham professor. She had the honor to study with Joshua at Jivamukti and Fordham. She has assisted Joshua on Bhakti retreats on Long Island and will be assisting him and teaching at their upcoming retreat in May in Myrtle Beach.
Karen’s class is a yoga experience, with aromatherapy, breathing, refection, meditation, vinyasa flow, and deep relaxation.
What brought Karen to Western New York? She and her husband Chris wanted to be closer to their son, daughter-in-law and grandson. She is looking forward to sharing her love of yoga with the Yoga Underground members!
From Karen: “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu–May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”

Hi everyone, I’m Lin Liedke and I delighted to be back on the schedule teaching Mat Pilates once again. I have been teaching fitness in one form or another since 1975. I have been certified as a Group Fitness Instructor with multiple specialty certifications, as well as a Personal Trainer. I have also been certified as a Mat Pilates Instructor and have been teaching Mat Pilates locally for almost 20 years. I still teach weight lifting classes and participate in Cross Fit and Zumba several times each week, so, personally, I NEED Pilates to help keep me flexible as well as keeping my core strong! I hope you’ll consider giving Pilates classes a try. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you on the mats!
Hi, I’m Kim, and I’m so excited to be teaching Barre Fitness at Yoga Underground. A little over a year ago, I discovered Barre classes when I spent every Tuesday night taking my daughter to an art class in Buffalo. With two hours to spare, I found a great Barre class to take and I was hooked! I received my Booty Barre instructor training in Pittsburgh, PA and I’m excited to bring this class to our area. Teaching has played a major part of my life for the past 25 years and I am lucky to be a part of a great middle school team in Fredonia. When I’m not busy teaching or working out, I am Mom to Connor, age 18, who is attending Edinboro University and Caroline, age 16, and a junior at Fredonia High School. When I have the time and the money, I love to travel and was able to knock two places off my bucket list: Italy and Spain. Besides my love for travel, I also love to cook, read, learn about wine and I’m always interested in trying something new when it comes to exercise.
I’m so happy to be a part of the Yoga Underground team!
Hello, all! I’m Cat. I never know what to say in a bio. I’m just a freak who loves to run, do yoga, eat cereal and keep my house clean. I’m OCD. I love a good novel. I operate on feelings–facts bore me! I’m married and have four children, which makes keeping the house clean impossible and the running and yoga necessary! Seriously, I feel I connect with others when I teach yoga. Love the mind, body, spirit connection. I am 200-hour Yoga Certified through Aura Wellness Center
